THE ANGOLA EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE FUND SENDS A SECOND CONTAINER TO THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF ANGOLA IN LUANDA

The shipment includes 20,000 books and 60 computers for the Catholic University of Angola

BOSTON, MA – The Angola Educational Assistance Fund announced today that a container with 20,000 books and 60 computers for the Catholic University of Angola left Boston and it's on the way to Luanda, Angola, where it is expected to arrive in 6 weeks.   This is the second shipment of learning material and the first one that includes both books and computers.  The AEAF worked with Prof. Julius W. Dudley, a history professor at Salem State College in Massachusetts, and with the East West Foundation in Boston, MA, to gather the material and organize the shipment.

"Computers and Internet are an integral part of the teaching infrastructure of a modern university.  We look forward to continuing the shipments of books and computers in the future on a regular basis to support the Catholic University's growth into a full fledge institution", said AEAF President Filippo Nardin.  "We also look forward to building a long lasting relationship with Prof. Dudley and the East West Foundation: this will help us toward our goal of providing top quality assistance at an effective cost."

Prof. Julius W. Dudley has been collecting "gently used" textbooks to send to schools and colleges in South Africa for many years.  Prof. Dudley has linked with numerous colleges and schools throughout the northeast, to collect and ship recent textbooks, novels and other useful reading material to schools in South Africa that are now emerging from under the weight of generations of apartheid.  Please click here for some background information on prof. Dudley's work.

Founded in 1990, East West Foundation (EWF) has provided nearly 11,000 remanufactured computers to nonprofits and schools around the world.  EWF bridges the gap between businesses seeking a convenient way to donate their surplus equipment and budget-strapped organizations seeking the technology that will make them successful into the 21st century.

The collaboration with the AEAF is the first time for both Prof. Dudley and EWF are involved in helping an institution in Angola.  Both organizations have committed to develop this collaboration into a long lasting and sustainable project.
